LA28 : United States to host 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced.

The city was awarded the Games at the 131st IOC Session in Lima, Peru, beating out Paris and Budapest.

This will be the third time that Los Angeles has hosted the Summer Olympics, having previously done so in 1932 and 1984.

The 2028 Games will be held from July 14 to August 30, 2028.

The IOC praised Los Angeles's "strong bid" and its "commitment to sustainability and innovation."

"We are confident that Los Angeles will deliver an exceptional Games in 2028," IOC President Thomas Bach said.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said that the city is "honored" to have been awarded the Games.

"This is a historic moment for our city and for our country," Garcetti said.

"We are committed to hosting a Games that will be a celebration of sport, culture, and diversity."

The 2028 Olympics are expected to attract more than 10 million visitors to Los Angeles and generate an economic impact of more than $10 billion.
